Early Years
David was the unlikely creative. Growing up, he never thought of himself that way. His interests leaned more toward technology, people and numbers. He went on to study cultural studies before building a career in hospitality, managing everything from city pubs to boutique bottle shops.
His love of wine led him to train as a sommelier, while his interest in business eventually took him through an MBA.
By 2018, Steph’s art business had grown too big for one person to manage. Ready for a change from the antisocial hours of hospitality, David joined the business full time.
He built the website, secured wholesale partners, learned the fine art printing process and helped build the foundations for what would eventually become SEA Gallery.
Behind the Lens
Photography began as a way to capture Steph’s work, but quickly grew into something more.
Drawn to the technical craft, David immersed himself in study and practice. When he bought an underwater housing for his camera, a new world opened beneath the reef. Soon after, a drone gave him a fresh perspective from above the rainforest canopy, coastlines and coral seas.
With time, patience and persistence, he developed into a skilled photographer in his own right.
His work has been published in magazines and editorials both locally and further afield. His commercial photography can be seen on billboards along the coast, and he was recently shortlisted for Underwater Photographer of the Year.
Where we are now
Today, David’s photography sits alongside Steph’s paintings at SEA Gallery, offering visitors two perspectives on the same coastline and a shared love for the place they now call home with their young family and golden retriever, Charlie.
His aerial and underwater fine art photography captures the coastlines, islands, rivers, forests, reefs and marine life that shape their world. Each limited edition print is hand-signed and produced in-house on archival paper or canvas, with the same care and attention to detail that defines the gallery itself.
